Solwezi, August 9 2019, ZANIS ——Senior Chief Ishindi of the Lunda speaking people of Zambezi District in North-western Province, says President Edgar Lungu’s commitment to transform the region into an economic hub should be supported by all.
ZANIS reports that the traditional leader said this in Solwezi ahead of the Lunda-Lubanza Traditional Ceremony slated for Saturday August 10, 2019 in Zambezi.
Senior Chief Ishindi said President Edgar Lungu has shown strong political will to tap the potential of North-western Province through various initiatives such as the “Northwest Expo 2019” adding that this should be supported by all in the region.
The traditional leader said the province is endowed with vast natural resources ranging from minerals to abundant water bodies and a huge tract of arable land for agriculture among others.
Chief Ishindi said the expo is a special purpose vehicle that is expected to open up development in key strategic areas of the province.
The traditional leader has however called on government to thoroughly screen prospective investors adding that only those prepared to partner with local people by ploughing back profits into communities should be allowed to set up businesses in the province.
Chief Ishindi said investment must be a win-win situation in which local people are treated as equal partners in sharing the benefits of natural resources found in their communities.
