Chavuma 20 May 2019 ZANIS…….Expo North west Zambia 2019 coordinator, Christopher Bwalya has called on traditional leaders to prepare adequetly for the expo by taking stock of investment wealth in their chiefdoms.
Mr. Bwalya said traditional leaders in the region
need to know what resources are in their chiefdoms in order for them to
compile attractive investment portfolios.
He said chiefs are key custodians of land and
should therefore, take the lead in ensuring that their respective territories
are opened up for investment through the expo.
Mr. Bwalya said this during a special district
development coordinating committee meeting in Chavuma today.
He said it is high time the province begins to
harness and exploit its investment potential and the expo is best way of doing
“We need to stop preaching about the potential
which this province has and start talking about how we should exploit this
potential in order to bring development to this region,” Mr. Bwalya
He urged the district development coordinating committee immediately form an all inclusive sub committee to provide guidance on how the area will prepare for the expo.
Officiating at the event, Northwestern province
permanent secretary, Willies Mangimela said the expo should be community driven
in order to succeed.
Mr Mangimela and his team have been going
round all districts in the province sensitizing stakeholders about the
forthcoming provincial exposition scheduled for August 18 to 24, this year
under the theme, “unveiling the hidden treasures”.
